Technical Information:

Introduced 1966

Engine Maybach MD870 of 1980BHP/1468kW at 1600RPM, 16 Cylinders, Turbocharged

Weight (working order) 108 tonnes
Overall Length [No information - mail me if you can help!]
Maximum Speed 75MPH/120KMH
Total delivered 10 (A401-A410)

Apart from the fact that all of these locomotives were made in West Germany and delivered in 1966-67, have a passing resemblance to the revised DB V160/Br216 body shape, are fitted with Maybach MD870 engines and were withdrawn between 1986 and 1993, I know little about the A401's. I also know that they were littered around the OSE standard gauge system, at Larissa (A407, above), Archarne (below) and Agios Ioannis yard. Presumably A407 failed at Larissa with a problem sufficient enough to prevent it being towed any great distance. If anyone can help with details on the A401's, let me know. Thanks.
